Message summary & scripture references

God calls us to witness to unbelievers. But what’s the best way to do it? In today’s message, we dig into how to correctly witness to unbelievers.

Romans 1:21-32 NLT

[21] Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. [22] Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.
[23] And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
[24] So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.
[25] They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
[26] That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other.
[27] And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
[28] Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.
[29] Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.
[30] They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents.
[31] They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy.
[32] They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

John 1:1,3-5 NLT

[1] In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[3] God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.
[4] The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.
[5] The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

1 John 3:4-6 NLT

[4] Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.
[5] And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.
[6] Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.

1 Corinthians 5:9-13 NLT

[9] When I wrote to you before, I told you not to associate with people who indulge in sexual sin.
[10] But I wasn’t talking about unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or are greedy, or cheat people, or worship idols. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that.
[11] I meant that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a believer yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or is a drunkard, or cheats people. Don’t even eat with such people.
[12] It isn’t my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning.
[13] God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, “You must remove the evil person from among you.”

Matthew 28:18-20 NLT

[18] Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.
[19] Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
[20] Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
