Message summary & scripture references

Tithing a tenth of your income and sowing financial seeds are both powerful biblical concepts, but they are vastly different ideas with different outcomes. Thus tithing is not sowing and sowing is not tithing. On today’s podcast learn the differences between tithing and sowing.

Malachi 3:8-10 KJV

[8] Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
[9] Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
[10] Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Matthew 23:23 KJV

[23] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 KJV

[6] But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
[7] Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Numbers 18:20-21,25-26,30-31 NLT

[20]And the LORD said to Aaron, “You priests will receive no allotment of land or share of property among the people of Israel. I am your share and your allotment.
[21] As for the tribe of Levi, your relatives, I will compensate them for their service in the Tabernacle. Instead of an allotment of land, I will give them the tithes from the entire land of Israel.
[25] The LORD also told Moses,
[26] “Give these instructions to the Levites: When you receive from the people of Israel the tithes I have assigned as your allotment, give a tenth of the tithes you receive-a tithe of the tithe-to the LORD as a sacred offering.
[30] “Also, give these instructions to the Levites: When you present the best part as your offering, it will be considered as though it came from your own threshing floor or winepress.
[31] You Levites and your families may eat this food anywhere you wish, for it is your compensation for serving in the Tabernacle.

2 Corinthians 9:1-2 NLT

[1] I really don’t need to write to you about this ministry of giving for the believers in Jerusalem.
[2] For I know how eager you are to help, and I have been boasting to the churches in Macedonia that you in Greece were ready to send an offering a year ago. In fact, it was your enthusiasm that stirred up many of the Macedonian believers to begin giving.

Malachi 3:10-12 KJV

[10] Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
[11] And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
[12] And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.

Matthew 17:27 KJV

[27] Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8,10-11 NLT

[6] Remember this-a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.
[7] You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
[8] And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
[10] For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
[11] Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.
