Message summary & scripture references

This month marks the 5th anniversary of the Church for Entrepreneurs. We started as a daily podcast and have grown into a global church. To mark this anniversary, I am sharing seven lessons I have learned about entrepreneurship during my five years in ministry.

  1. God does not give you all the information up front.
  2. You have to be patient with growth. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
  3. You have to be willing to change directions as you move forward in the vision.
  4. Things you did in the beginning may not be a part of the future.
  5. Diligence and focus produce results over time.
  6. Sowing time and resources into your calling produces a harvest.
  7. Your spouse has to be on board with the vision, or you need to move slowly until they are.

Genesis 12:1 KJV

[1] Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Joshua 1:8 KJV

[8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Hebrews 6:12 KJV

[12] That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

1 Kings 17:7-9 ESV

[7] And after a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.
[8] Then the word of the Lord came to him,
[9] “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.”

Romans 7:6 NIV

[6] But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Proverbs 10:4 KJV

[4] He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

Proverbs 22:29 KJV

[29] Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

Luke 6:38 KJV

[38] Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

1 Peter 3:7 KJV

[7] Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
