Message summary & scripture references

In times of crisis, many people rise up and declare “what thus saith the Lord is.” If you just casually glance at social media, this is not too hard to find (especially since everyone is preaching online these days). One prophet says this. Yet another says that. And what they say is contradicting. We know God is not the author of confusion, so someone is wrong. In today’s message, let’s study the scriptures together and discover how to determine who is right and who is wrong.

1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV

[33] For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Matthew 7:15 NLT

[15] “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.

Matthew 24:11 NLT

[11] And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people.

1 John 4:1-3 NLT

[1] Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.
[2] This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God.
[3] But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.

Luke 17:26-30 NLT

[26] “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day.
[27] In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all.
[28] “And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business-eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building-
[29] until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.
[30] Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 NLT

[21] “But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the LORD?’
[22] If the prophet speaks in the LORD’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the LORD did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared.
